Significant Danish participation at GOM 3D Metrology Conference

20. October 2015

Several Danish companies participated in the GOM 3D Metrology Conference 2015, which also presented two Danish speakers.

From September 21-24, 2015, GOM held the GOM 3D Metrology Conference 2015. The conference is a combination of user and product presentations, live demonstrations and a technical exhibition.

The event covered two main topics - materials research & component testing as well as 3D coordinate measurement.

Significant Danish attendance
Zebicon was represented at the conference all days, and had invited existing and potential customers for the event. All in all, 21 Zebicon guests participated in GOM 3D Metrology Conference.

Metrologist Ralf Jessen from Jydsk Aluminium Industri A/S was one of the Danish guests at the conference. He explains: ”It was very interesting to hear other users talk about how they use 3D scanning and optical measuring. Moreover, I benefitted from seeing the the technical exhibition, and getting direct access to the experts from GOM to discuss our specific challenges”.

Production engineer Lars Mølgaard from Radiometer Medical ApS was also among the Danish participants, who learned more about the GOM measuring systems, that his company has invested in. ”We learned a lot about our ATOS scanner and bring many new inputs back home," says Lars Mølgaard.

”Generally, the GOM 3D Metrology Conference is an impressive event with great technical content, which we will definitely recommend others to participate in,” concludes Lars Mølgaard. Both participants agree that the conference gave rise to much talk and networking among the Danish users of 3D measurement systems from GOM.

DTU and Coloplast shared experiences
Two Danish users of GOM measuring systems made presentations on the conference; Christian Berggren from DTU, the Technical University of Denmark, and Carsten Lundø from Coloplast. Christian Berggren talked about, how DTU uses the ARAMIS deformation analysis system as part of the education of future engineers, and thus creates knowledge and interest for material and component testing already during the time of study.

On the last conference day, Carsten Lundø made an interesting presentation about how Coloplast in close cooperation with Zebicon has defined a measurement strategy and implemented it at sub suppliers in Denmark and internationally. On stage, the two Danish presenters were accompanied by Audi, Adidas and Pratt & Whitney.

In total more than 650 people from 45 countries participated in the conference, which took place at the GOM headquarter in Braunschweig, Germany.
