Easy entry into automated 3D scanning
Easy entry into automated 3D scanning
For the first time, GOM present a mobile measuring station with a collaborative robot.
Until now, using automated 3D measurement technology has meant large investments and therefore has been particularly interesting for large companies. GOM has now launched an automated alternative, which is also attractive for small and medium-sized companies.
CTO at Zebicon, Kasper Krogh clarify, “With GOM ScanCobot we see new possibilities for even small companies to invest in automation thus making the measurement process more efficient.”
Flexible, mobile, and automated measuring system
GOM ScanCobot is a compact measuring station on wheels, which has integrated a collaborative robot, motorized rotation table and the 3D scanner ATOS Core. This automated solution is suitable for efficient quality control of parts up to 50 kg and Ø500 mm.
GOM ScanCobot is a mobile system, which only require a small working area thus it fit into even small measurement departments. Furthermore, it is a flexible system, which can be moved fast and easily between departments and used for on-site measurement.
No need for expert knowledge
GOM ScanCobot is equipped with GOM’s inspection software, including a virtual measuring room (VMR) and a user-friendly interface, which can be easily operated by users without expert knowledge.
With GOM ScanCobot there is no need for robot programming skills, as the software handle this part. It is neither necessary to know about the perfect measuring position for each part, as the robot calculate the right positions on its own. Additionally, GOM ScanCobot optimize the measurement process automatically by identifying the shortest route between each position.
Kasper Krogh conclude, “By combining GOM ScanCobot with light scanning, a powerful software and a design fit for industrial use, GOM has created a system, which gives an easy entry into automated serial inspection.”
